Our home has been renamed

As of January 17, 2025, our home is no longer called George Pearson Centre, or “Pearson” as many of us call it. This facility is now known as “Oak Care Centre”. We shall see if a nickname evolves. For now, everyone is working on all the changes required to update to the new name.

Residents have asked what the cost of this name change is but have received no answer. We know the process took years, with many VCH staff hours so we imagine it cost thousands and thousands of dollars. We just wish some of those funds could have gone towards staffing and improving care. The name change was a decision of the VCH Board of Directors and residents were informed and engaged in the consultation process.
